Proverbs 8: 12-21: Do you seek Wisdom, and how do you seek wisdom? Is it found in books? Is wisdom found in school? Is wisdom developed by experience? I have been giving this some thought lately. How exactly do we gain wisdom? Well there is not an exact equation. I know that wisdom is gained through experience. I know that there is some wisdom found in books; but the best wisdom comes from reading the Word of God. I have also noted that wisdom can be found in small group study of the word. You see my study alone reveals one perspective and yes, if I pray and ask the Holy Spirit’s guidance before reading, I gain a better insight. But through my small group when reading scripture, I find more complete knowledge and therefore wisdom. So from my point of view wisdom is found by discussing knowledge with other Christians, and through the Holy Spirit, we see the truth. From the truth, we have wisdom. Because God’s word is truth, it is also full of wisdom because wisdom and truth are twins.
12 “I, Wisdom, live together with good judgment. I know where to discover knowledge and discernment. 13 All who fear the Lord will hate evil. Therefore, I hate pride and arrogance, corruption and perverse speech. 14 Common sense and success belong to me. Insight and strength are mine. 15 Because of me, kings reign, and rulers make just decrees. 16 Rulers lead with my help, and nobles make righteous judgments
17 “I love all who love me. Those who search will surely find me. 18 I have riches and honor, as well as enduring wealth and justice. 19 My gifts are better than gold, even the purest gold, my wages better than sterling silver! 20 I walk in righteousness, in paths of justice. 21 Those who love me inherit wealth. I will fill their treasuries.
